Corliss Randall Davenport
Greetings, I am Corliss Davenport, Youth Development Specialist and Program Manager for the City of Atlanta Office of Recreation.
Corliss Davenport joined the Office of Public Affairs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport February 2017. In her initial role as Project Manager she was responsible for overseeing the 2016 Economic Impact Study that is conducted every 3 years. Simultaneously Ms. Davenport created and founded ATL Airport University which is only the second Program of its type in the USA. As a result of her innovation she is now serving as Director of ATL Airport University which provides education courses and workforce training to incumbent employees of the Airport, high demand career apprenticeships for high school students of Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton and Clayton County School Systems. In addition the program partners with Aerotropolis Atlanta to provide trainings for community members who live in the Airport footprint all at no charge to the participant. Prior to joining the Airport leadership team she served as program manager in the office of Recreation with the City of Atlanta from April 2010 to January 2017 with a vast array of experiences and education. She served 17 years in Atlanta Public Schools beginning as a teacher and moving up to principal the last 7 years, departing APS in 2006. Since 2006 she ran the family trucking company and served as a transportation consultant for UniverSoul Circus. Corliss is an experienced contractor certifying home schools and child care centers for Bright From the Start and served as Chief of Staff for Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms all before joining the Office of Recreation as the Program Manager. Accomplishments include the following: *Experienced Educator:Initiated and facilitated bringing certified teachers to the K-5th grade Out of School Time Program (After School) to supplement the academic portion of the program;Purchased two web-based math tutorial programs for the K-5th OST programs and Teen youth being served (Study Island and Alek).Students made an overall 7% gain in math 2011 *Knowledgeable in Curriculum and Instruction:Implemented a reading requirement in which the youth read over 5,000 books between 15 sites;Implemented and facilitated bringing 4 Freedom Schools (Children's Defense Fund Program) to the City of Atlanta's Camp Best Friends Summer Program;Piloted a summer of Service Learning for Teens serving 200 Teens: over 70% of the Teens returned to the Pilot Fall Teen Program *Increased Senior participation city-wide from 80 Seniors to over 400 Seniors *Facilitated the Anti-Bullying Campaign in Parks and Recreation, developing policies and reporting procedures; recognized as the first municipality to adopt the "No Place for Hate" program via the Anti-Defamation League *Experienced collaborator; partnered with over 10 organizations to provide supplemental programming to recreation valued at over $300,000 in services; Partners include;Public Broadcasting Atlanta, Put Up Your Dukes Foundation, Humana, The Floral Project, Atlanta Public Schools, Soccer In the Streets and others.
